Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Folium ("we", "the service") handles information when you use foliumcv.com. We built Folium to be privacy-first: the resume you create stays on your device by default, and creating an account is entirely optional.

1. The data you enter stays in your browser

Everything you type into the editor — your name, contact details, experience, photo and so on — is stored locally in your browser using local storage. It is never uploaded to our servers; in fact, we do not operate a database for your resume content. If you clear your browser data, your resume is removed.

1b. Optional AI import (PDF)

The editor offers an optional "Import PDF" feature. If — and only if — you choose to use it, the text extracted from your PDF (never the file itself, never the photo) is sent over an encrypted connection to our serverless function and processed by Cloudflare Workers AI to organize it into the editor. The text is processed on the fly to produce the structured result and is not stored by Folium; we keep no copy, no logs of its content, and no database of resumes. If you never use this feature, no resume data ever leaves your browser. If your browser cannot read the PDF locally, Folium asks for a separate confirmation before sending the file itself for text extraction — in that case too, it is processed on the fly and immediately discarded. 1c. Optional AI tailoring and cover letter

The editor also offers an optional "Tailor to job" feature. All AI features (import, tailoring, cover letter) require you to be signed in, so that we can enforce a daily usage limit (see "1d" below) — they are not available anonymously. If — and only if — you sign in and choose to use it, the content of your resume and the job posting text you paste are sent over an encrypted connection to our serverless function and processed by Cloudflare Workers AI to produce the match analysis, the tailored copy of your resume and, if you request it, a cover letter. Your email address and phone number are excluded from what is sent, and the photo never leaves your browser. The résumé and job-posting content itself is processed on the fly and is not stored by Folium: no copy, no logs of its content.

1d. Optional account (sign in)

You may optionally create an account to sign in to Folium, which is required to use the AI features or to sync your resumes across devices. We collect only your email address — never a password. To sign in, we email you a one-time link (via our provider, Resend); clicking it creates a session, stored as a single functional cookie in your browser (see "Cookies" below). Your email address, the resume data you choose to keep in your account, and a count of how many AI actions you've used — reset daily for free accounts, or tracked over a rolling 30-day cycle for Premium (so we can enforce each plan's limit — just a number, not the content of what you asked for) — are stored in our database (Cloudflare D1). This is the only part of Folium that stores personal data on our servers — if you never create an account, none of this applies to you. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing [email protected].

1e. Premium subscription

If you choose to upgrade to Premium, the purchase is handled entirely by our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy: your email address is shared with them to create the checkout and manage the subscription (renewal, cancellation, invoices, payment details), and they are the seller responsible for the transaction. Folium never receives or stores your card details. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy for how they handle payment data.

1f. Marketing emails (optional)

If you have an account, we may occasionally email you about new features, improvements or CV tips — never more than once in a while, and only if you opt in. This is never assumed: it's an unticked checkbox at sign-up, or a one-time question we ask existing accounts, and you can turn it on or off at any time from the account menu. These emails are sent from [email protected], kept separate from the [email protected] address used for sign-in links, and every one includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Declining, or unsubscribing later, never affects your ability to use Folium or its AI features.

2. Cookies

If you never create an account, we do not set any cookies, and the analytics we use (described below) is cookieless — so most visitors see no cookies at all. If you choose to sign in, we set exactly one functional cookie (a random session token) so the Service knows you're signed in; it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking, and it disappears when you sign out. We do not use cookies to track or profile you, and we do not show a tracking-cookie consent banner, since nothing we set requires one under applicable law.

3. Analytics

To understand how visitors find and use the site (for example which pages are popular and which country traffic comes from), we use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service. It collects aggregate usage data only — it does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not collect personal information.

3b. Where your data is processed, and for how long

Folium is operated from Argentina. The providers described above — Cloudflare (hosting, our database and the optional AI features), Resend (email) and Lemon Squeezy (payments) — process data on infrastructure located outside Argentina, mainly in the United States, as a necessary part of providing the specific feature you chose to use (signing in, sending an email, or completing a purchase). If you create an account, we keep your email address and the resume data you choose to sync for as long as the account exists. When you ask us to delete it (see "Your choices" below), we do so promptly — normally within a few days.
