When to use a Europass CV
Use the Europass format:
- When it's explicitly requested: some public-sector jobs, EU-funded programmes and university applications ask for a CV in Europass format.
- When a standard structure helps: its sections are the same in every EU language, which suits applications across several countries.
- Not by default: most private employers don't require it, and a one- or two-page CV tailored to the job tends to stand out more.
- Keep its language scale either way: the CEFR levels (A1–C2) used by Europass are understood across Europe, in any CV.
If a job or programme requires the Europass format, use the official editor at europass.europa.eu; it's free. Folium doesn't reproduce the official Europass layout. It's for the applications where you choose the design: the same information in a shorter CV that fits the job.

What is a Europass CV?

Is the Europass CV mandatory?
